It’s not the first time

So I’m 2 months postpartum and attempting to get back in shape. I was working out at home with my husband today doing what felt like my 800th squat of the workout and I said “Whoo, my legs hurt…but it’s not the first time that’s happened.”

It’s not the first time and it’s not the last time. It’s an amazing feeling to know that that strength has come from years of training on the track. Getting back in shape sucks big time and it sucks just as much for me as it does for anyone; but I have a secret weapon… it doesn’t hurt as much as I’ve made myself hurt in the past during a workout.

Being able to get more from yourself than your competitor is what makes you more successful. My university Coach would always say “Racing is about who can hurt the most”, he was the kinda guy who had eight phrases that he would cycle through, so this one kinda stuck!

Don’t you want that for your kid? For yourself? A tenacity that allows your hungry spirit to come out every now and again and get what you need from every experience? Track and field is the perfect training ground to develop and hone this skill!

I can’t wait to see all of you on the track this summer. Summer camp is going to be amazing!
